While mounting a monster, you can completely get away without ever using the brace command. (Holding R2 on PS4)

Mount a monster as you normally would. And proceed to attack as normal. When the monster is about to thrash, instead of holding the brace button to ride out it’s attempts to throw you off, use the move command instead. Your hunter moves to another spot on the monster without any loss to your stamina gauge, freeing up the opportunity to continue to deal damage. This can be done for as long as you’re mounted in the monster.

As stated in the title, using the drill wispon can cut time, as this can be exploited by spamming the weapon use key. As the chareter gets a bust of speed, spamming it can allow you to progress fast
